History

In 1945 there were three anonymous bikers in Atlantic City who enjoyed the sport of riding motorcycles. They would frequently cross the bridge that connected Philadelphia and New Jersey and do "burn-outs" in the oil at the base of the bridge, originating the name "Old Burners". Every weekend Coffee, Cheyenne, Boddie, Spartacus, and Peter Gun rode to Philadelphia to party with Big Daddy, June and Maverick. Freddie "Coffee" Carter (Right) led the riders, whom all enjoyed stunt riding.

In November 1946, Freddie "Coffee" Carter founded a Motorcycle Club with seven total original members whom were already known for racing, trick riding, partying and "Burning Rubber From State to State." Coffee decided to name the club "The State Burner's" - starting the first and only Black Motorcycle Club on the East Coast

In 1966 a new young member named Charles joined the club, but he did not have a riding name.  He wanted to learn how to stunt ride, so Coffee and Cheyenne taught him.  He was good at performing a trick called "Bull Dogging" and looked like a wild cowboy at a rodeo while doing it; thus, he was given the name "Cowboy".

Cowboy became the President of the State Burner's in 1968 and is currently the oldest member of the State Burner's.  Upon becoming president in 1968, Cowboy designed the first set of colors with two rockers and a center piece.  The center piece shows a rider riding side saddle; this was used because all of the original members were stunt riders.  The seven flames coming from the back tire is an honor to the seven members who started the club.  At present, Cowboy established 15 Chapters ranging from coast-to-coast and continued to ensure the State Burner's maintained the reputation of respect and teaching and promoting safe riding

In July of 2021,  and following a vote of the state burner's nation of a successor, the reigns of the duties of the state burner's national president were handed over to state burner's mc member "Big Smooove" (AKA "Pooka").  Big Smooove was the original founding president of the peoria il chapter of the state burner's mc (Jan 2008).  In November 2016, Big Smooove transferred to the Louisville, KY chapter where he would later become the chapter president.

In December 2023, following the retirement of "Big Smoove" and following a vote of the state burner's nation, "Lucky" was selected to further the direction of the State Burner's MC as the National President Lucky was one of the founding members of the Richmond VA Chapter of the State Burner's MC (2008) and during his tenure with Richmond VA served as the Vice President as well as the President of the Chapter.  In may 2017, Lucky departed the Richmond VA Chapter to help expand the Burner's Nation and was one of the founding members of the Chantilly VA Chapter where he served until his most recent appointment of National President.
